Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis)

Pain on the outside of the elbow when gripping? Tennis elbow develops through overload – and responds well to targeted training.

Overview

What is tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)?

Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) is an irritation of the tendon attachments on the outside of the elbow. Despite its name, it rarely affects tennis players, but frequently affects people with repetitive hand and forearm strain – such as in office or manual work.

Typical symptoms

Pain on the outside of the elbow, intensified when gripping, lifting, or extending the wrist. Often even lifting a cup or shaking hands causes pain.

Possible causes

Repetitive, unfamiliar, or one-sided strain on the hand and forearm, overload of the tendons, and low load capacity of the musculature.

Our solution

How ToonyTherapy helps you

Tendons need dosed loading: With targeted, progressive evidence-based training, we rebuild the load capacity of the forearm tendons. Manual therapy relieves the irritation, and through movement analysis we optimize stressful movement patterns in everyday life.

Frequently asked questions

In the short term it can provide relief, but it does not address the cause. Targeted strength training of the tendon is what works sustainably.
Complete rest is unfavorable. Dosed loading makes the tendon resilient again – that is precisely the core of treatment.
Tendons require patience: often several weeks to months. Progress can be well controlled with targeted training.

Grip with strength again.
