Overview
What is pain between the shoulder blades (Thoracic Spine Syndrome)?
The term Thoracic Spine Syndrome (BWS-Syndrom) encompasses complaints in the thoracic spine region: pain, tension, and restricted mobility between the shoulder blades. Usually, there is no serious underlying cause, but rather a combination of posture, prolonged sitting, and muscular weakness.
Typical Symptoms
A dull or pulling pain between or below the shoulder blades, often intensified after prolonged sitting or deep inhalation. Mobility when rotating the upper body may be restricted.
Possible Causes
Prolonged sitting, screen work, rounded back posture, stress, and weak core and shoulder blade muscles. Lack of movement exacerbates the symptoms.
